Left handed FAC semi auto

Postby GHE » Thu Jan 28, 2016 1:55 pm

So I'm looking for a left handed semi that will take at least 8 cartridges, variation has been approved. I'm getting it for wood pigeons but will also practice on clays until I've got the hang of it.

There are various "military" style ones, such as Fabarm and Escort, fitted with rifle-type sights and intended, I believe, for practical shotgun - I can't get on with that type.

I THINK that this leaves me with the Escort 4+1 with a tube extension to make it 7+1, but would value any suggestions for alternatives. To me, one with a banana mag would be perfect (much quicker to unload when the pigeons turn out to be somewhere else) but Google hasn't been much help...

The nicest handling one I've tried was modeled on the M16 style.

Detachable magazine with a good balance.

I've tried the AK47 style shotgun but the balance wasn't that good plus it shot the over size muzzle brake down the range until I put extra retaining screws in it.

I have the Hatsun MPA semi and find it too forward heavy.

Take a look at Franchi or benelli before parting with your cash, they come with spacers take a matter of minutes to set up, inertia loading so no gas ports to block up.

use mine all the time in the field when wet and want an easy to clean gun, they come in both the standard black and a camo offering.

Many thanks. The Franchi only seems to be available in 5 shot, so I made enquiries about the Benelli, spoke to a very nice guy called Mike at York Guns and received very good service. I am now the proud (theoretical) owner of a left handed Benelli 9/10 shot, 26" barrel, and am £1365 poorer :) - the extra cost was for the big tube.

Sadly, Mike is retiring and today is his last day, I wish him all the best.

I did try to deal with a more local RFD, gave up trying to get through on the phone so sent them a message via their website contact us form, no response. Their loss.

Just seen an advert on another forum for a left handed FAC shotgun and I thought
that might be hard to get rid of. I think it is a 4+1 but you could put a mag
extension on it. It is second hand but it might be worth a look. Link below.
