Shotguns have NEVER excited me because of my opinion of the general crudeness of said guns. However, clay-birding now appeals to me.
My questions are: what is a s1 shotgun (I only have s1 FAC), and would a s1 shotgun be accepted at a clay-bird shoot?
If s1 shotguns are not "permitted" to clay-bird shoots, then I need to apply for a SGC?
Like your style Cam, I am a rifle shooter but a lot of the guys from the club shoot shotguns,
After giving it a go a few times, I got the urge to apply for the shotgun cert. now I have 6 shotguns.
12g Baikal my first sg
12 Baikal side by side hammer gun (got it for £35 in good cond)
12g Beretta 692 used for clays
12g Franchi semi auto camo thing for pigeons
20g Bettinsoli (just had to have it) use it regularly
20g Lincoln, (will be the wife's gun when she gets her SGC
It's not that bad on the dark side, but get an O/U if you want it for clays, some clubs won't allow S1 guns to be used, you will have to show good reason for it too.
I only use the semi for rough shooting, (the camo is not a good look at the clay ground in my opinion) and swap between the Bettinsolli and Beretta for clays
