As of an hour ago,I've just got sanction on a .17 HMR
Any recommendations? ( I still don't think I can bring myself to buy anything with a 'plastic' stock.)

Seconded. I have one, and as well as being very accurate, they're very good looking guns.

I'm potting rabbits man, not shooting buffalo.
Of course, I know your Northamptonshire rabbits are five times the size of ours in Warwickshire, but even so ;)

P.S. My solar powered electric fence has now been running for 10 months non stop

Some of us were given noble missions, Bono got to help the poor and needy......

My mission was simply to preach reality about Hornady's abomination

I would have thought the obvious choice for yourself would be an Anschutz.

Nice wood, a good finish and a very nice trigger mechanism plus excellent accuracy.

I'm sure that a man of some financial substance such as your good self would jump at the chance of owning something of such quality instead of the run of the mill rather agricultural offerings from other companies.

I didn't get where I am today by spending it Keith, ;)
I haven't looked at the Anschutz (in fact I haven't looked at anything yet), but as with anything I buy, the final decision will be judged on engineering excellence, not the 'name' or 'fashion'.
( Which is why I have never moved from the Axsor) ;)
